Friday action underway

Boston College and Massachusetts are locked in a 1-1 tie through the end of two in Amherst. After potting Monday's game winner off a pass from Brian Gibbons, BC's Nathan Gerbe returned the favor 4:27 into the first period tonight. The Oxford, MI native displayed some nifty puck carrying down the left side, spotting Gibbons for an early Eagles lead. Usually a leader in shots, Gerbe has just two thus far as the teams enter the final frame. 2005 7th rounder Andrew Orpik, whose Monday heroics were nullified when his would-be game winner was waved-off, has a minor penalty for BC. In the first of two this weekend, Bowling Green currently leads visiting Alaska, 4-1. Freshman goaltender Nick Eno takes a rest tonight, but should be in the Falcons crease tomorrow. Flames prospect Jimmy Spratt had made 20 saves through two periods in place of Eno. In the first game to finish, T.J. Brennan (-1) picked up an assist in St. John's 4-3 overtime defeat of Baie-Comeau. Benjamin Breault notched a power play assist for the Drakkar in the loss, while Foggies center J.S. Allard added two shots on goal. Much more to come after the Sabres/Bruins.
