9/5 Recap: Brennan, Byron light lamp

Some notes from Friday's CHL pre-season action: Montreal's T.J. Brennan (+2) and Gatineau's Paul Byron (-1) each had power play goals as the Junior defeated les Olympiques, 6-4. Luke Adam assisted on Brennan's tally in the first action of the pre-season for both players. Byron won 15 of 24 faceoffs on the evening for Gatineau. The two teams will play it back on Sunday. Jacob Lagacé did not play in Chicoutimi's 3-1 loss to Quebec. Former Sabres prospect Benjamin Breault picked up a pair of goals for the Remparts in the second of two games between the clubs. On Thursday, Lagacé (-1) had an assist as the Sags dropped the first game by a 3-2 count. Jordon Southorn took the night off as PEI fell to Cape Breton, 6-3. In the OHL, Saginaw's Nick Crawford was in the lineup as the Spirit played to a 5-5 tie with the Soo in the pre-season opener, while Drew Schiestel sat out of Niagara's 7-5 loss at Sudbury. Out west, Tyler Myers did not make the trip with the Rockets as Kelowna kicked off their 2008 pre-season with a 4-3 loss to Vancouver.
