10/12 Recap: Crawford cruises

Nick Crawford (+1) capped off a three-game weekend with two assists in Saginaw's 3-2 win over Plymouth. The Caledon, Ontario native assisted on Jack Combs' first goal of the season in the first period. With 2:37 left in the third and the game tied 2-2, Crawford set up Tyler Murovich for the game winner. The Spirit will ride a four-game winning streak into Friday's match-up with Central Division leader Barrie. Struggling offensively without the injured Luke Adam (1-2 weeks, knee), the Montreal Juniors were shutout for the second straight game via a 1-0 loss to Moncton. Adam's linemates, Angelo Esposito and Nick Layton, have failed to produce a point in two games since the barreling forward went down. 2007 second-rounder T.J. Brennan had a minor penalty for Montreal in the loss. Paul Byron continued his quiet start, registering a single shot on goal in Gatineau's 4-1 loss to Rimouski. The 5'9 forward has scored one goal in nine games this season after netting 37 in 52 games in 2007-08, and is bound to come up in QMJHL trade rumors sooner or later. Tyler Ennis and the Tigers are underway in Swift Current.
