Southorn suspended

PEI coach Guy Chouinard has suspended defenseman Jordon Southorn after an off-ice blow-up during Saturday's loss to Rouyn-Noranda. After a mistake led to the game winning goal against, Southorn threw his gear and left the bench area, and was later told to stay there. The decision to send the 18-year old home for an undetermined time was made following the game. The 6'3 lefty was chosen in the 4th round of the 2008 draft (104th overall) after a 12 goal, 31 point year for the Rocket. Named as the team's assistant captain this season, Southorn has one goal and seven assists, but has struggled as of late. This isn't the first time the Rocket has had to penalize a Buffalo Sabres prospect. In January of 2007, they gave star defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani some down time after a road trip incident. The relationship seemed strained from there on.
