Myers' Friday night foil

With Kelowna's Tyler Myers reverting to his early season pugilistic tendencies by dropping the mitts in two of his last three games, here is a short clip of his bout with 6'5 Bo Montgomery of Medicine Hat on Friday. The 6'7-3/4 defender also earned an instigator and a ten minute misconduct. Contrary to the play-by-play, Myers didn't absorb the initial check, but rather he stepped in to make Montgomery accountable. It's refreshing to see this part of Myers development taking shape. The Rockets were leading 8-1 in the third at the time of the scrap, so the misconduct wasn't a factor.

Do you think the Sabres will do what Atlanta did with Pietrangelo and have Myres play the first 10 games of next season?

Much will depend on what happens between now and this fall. STL seemed to need Pietrangleo at the beginning of the season. Barring injury or major trade, the Sabres have enough bodies under contract to fill the blueline.

If play in camp wins out on its own merit, I still maintain that Myers may very well be good enough to linger around the opening night roster regardless of inexpereince elsewhere on the blue.
