1/24 Recap: MacKenzie pots first; Adam, Lagacé streaking

Drew MacKenzie scored his first goal of the seaon on Sunday as #17 Vermont shutdown #15 Massachusetts, 3-0. With the Catamounts on the power play, the sophomore settled a pass on the blueline and wristed a shot through traffic to net the game-winning goal at 8:29 of the first period.

In the QMJHL, Luke Adam scored his 30th goal of the year as Cape Breton closed a three-games-in-three-days journey with a 5-2 loss to Chicoutimi. The 6'2 center has collected five goals in his past four games. Jacob Lagacé assisted on Adam's power play goal, and is now amidst a six-game point streak with a goal and seven helpers, while Maxime Legault added an assist of his own with :06 remaining on the clock.

Elsewhere in the Q, Jordon Southorn registered a shot on goal as PEI defeated Halifax, 2-1 in a shootout.

In the OHL, Marcus Foligno was -2 with an assist as Sudbury was defeated by Mississauga-St. Mike's, 5-2. The grinder now has points in three straight games.
