2/9-10 Recap: Boychuk thrives in 'Hawk romp

In Wednesday WHL play, Riley Boychuk popped off for a goal and two assists as Portland doubled Spokane, 10-5. The three-point night gives the 6'5 forward 12 points in his last 13 games and a total of 29 (14+15) on the year. The Winterhawks dominated on the scoreboard despite being outshot by a 48-29 margin. Late in the third with the game well in hand, Boychuk earned a roughing minor after coming to the aid of goalie Mac Carruth:



Also from the Dub, Corey Fienhage logged a +3 as Kamloops thrashed Seattle, 6-1. Colin Smith ('11) had a goal and an assist for the Blazers.

In the OHL, Steven Shipley finished -1 as Niagara defeated Kingston, 3-1. Ryan Strome ('11) had an assist for the victorious Dogs.

On Thursday, Gregg Sutch assisted on the game winning goal as Mississauga beat Barrie, 5-3. The helper ended a five-game point slumber for the checking forward.


Zack Kassian (-2) picked up an assist as Windsor lost a tough one to Owen Sound, 6-4. The helpers ends a four-game point drought for the slumping forward.
