Leduc, Q shut down as Russia opens series with win

Jerome Gauthier-Leduc registered two shots on goal Monday as Team QMJHL opened the 2011 Subway Super Series with a 2-0 loss to Team Russia.

Leduc, the QMJHL’s leading defensive point-getter, executed well in all three zones while paired with the league's #2 defensive scorer, Martin Lefebvre of the Quebec Remparts. Sergey Kostenko (undrafted) made 42 saves for Russia to earn the shutout.

Team QMJHL will look to even things up when the series moves to Leduc’s hometown of Quebec City on Wednesday.
