12/8 Recap: Cat snags pair; D-men look to Calgary

Dan Catenacci scored a pair of goals Thursday as Owen Sound lost to Barrie, 5-3. The speedy center now has 18 goals and 36 points through 32 games. Last season through his first 32, Catenacci gathered 18 goals and 42 points. Colts defenseman Alex Lepkowski picked up an assist, while Gregg Sutch finished -2 for the winning side.



Steven Shipley earned an assist and a game-low -2 rating as Niagara defeated Peterborough, 5-2. The big pivot gets on the scoresheet with a helper after being held without a point in his previous four games. The IceDogs will square off with Kingston on Saturday.

Mark Pysyk picked up an assist as Edmonton thumped Brandon, 7-3. The Oil Kings captain will take Friday off before heading to Calgary Saturday morning for the start of Canada's World Junior Selection Camp.

In QMJHL play, Jerome Gauthier-Leduc (+2) saw his three-game goal streak snapped as Rimouski downed Moncton, 4-2. Liam O'Brien ('12) scored two goals to lead the Oceanic, who will next face Victoriaville on Friday. Leduc will join Pysyk at Canada's Selection Camp on Saturday.
