Amerks fall in OT

ECHL call-up Evan Rankin continued to state his AHL case Saturday, scoring both of the Amerks goals in a 3-2 overtime loss to Adirondack. The 25-year old Rankin has four goals and two assists in seven games since being recalled from Toldeo, where he piled 10 goals in 15 contests for the Walleyes. The 6'1 196-pound wing had just 20 goals in a four-year collegiate career at Notre Dame.

Phil Varone assisted on both Rankin tallies, while Marcus Foligno added a single helper for his 12th point of the year.

The Rundown:
Foligno: A, +1, 1 SOG
Biega: +1, 2 SOG
Brennan: -1, 3 SOG
Crawford: 2 PIM
Persson: -1, 3 SOG
Parker: 1 SOG
Boychuk: 2 SOG
Schiestel: 1 SOG, 4 PIM
Lagace: -1, 2 SOG

The Amerks (11-10-3-1) travel to Hamilton for a Sunday afternoon tilt.

Playing a bit of a catch-up from last week...

Foligno earned his second fighting major the year Saturday (12/3) when he took on Ian Schultz in the Amerks 4-2 loss to Hamilton.

The following night, he'd score his of eighth the season in the Amerks 4-2 loss at Albany (12/4).

Third-year man Drew Schiestel would complete the Amerks scoring in the loss with his first goal of the year.
