Gregg Sutch scored an early goal Tuesday but Barrie was defeated by Ottawa 4-3 in overtime of game seven of the OHL Eastern Conference Final. The 6'2 grinder took advantage of a turnover to pot his 2nd of the playoffs just 2:52 in. The Colts would battle back to force OT with :09 left in regulation before 67's forward Brett Gustavsen ended it at 2:09 of the extra session. Alex Lepkowski was +1 on the Colts blueline, finishing the playoffs with two goals, an assist, and a +10 rating in 12 games.

Ottawa advances to the Eastern Conference Final to face Steven Shipley and the Niagara IceDogs. The series begins Friday in St. Catharines.

In the QMJHL, Jerome Gauthier-Leduc earned an assist as Rimouski advanced to the semifinal round with a 5-4 win over Blainville-Boisbriand. The mobile righty advances to the next round with five goals, 12 points, and a +6 rating through 11 postseason contests. After coming back to defeat the Armada in seven games, the Oceanic will square off with Nathan MacKinnon and the Halifax Mooseheads beginning Friday. MacKinnon, who is considered to be the top dog for the 2013 draft, has 11 goals and 21 points in 11 playoff games.

Gauthier-Leduc is playing well during these playoffs. 5 goals and 7 assists and a +6 in 11 games.

Is he scheduled to join the Amerks next season or will he stay in the Q for another year?

Never mind. This is Gauthier-Leduc's last year of junior.

@ 10:38

I suppose that may be true. How else to explain the gaggle of Leafs fans that litter the nation from coast to coast?

I mean if you are both a Canadian and seeking a default/no brain team to cheer for it should really be the Habs, instead of the grammatically specious 'Leafs'.

there are many leaf fans but believe me there are more leaf haters. i;m 63 years young and have hated them since the age of five. and yes i;m canadian.

"T.J. Brennan does what he has done more than any other AHL D over the past two seasons - score a goal - to tie the game 3-3."

solid...

how's his defensive game coming along?...he's said to have been working on that for the last two seasons...

if they're looking at mcnabb and possibly brennan sticking with the big club next season, someone (or two if they re-sign sulzer) will need to go...

Hi Kris,

Any thoughts on who will be this year's Mark Scheifele in the draft? Wondering if someone like Girgensons or Jankowski might rocket up the charts and nestle into the top 10? I'm taking it as a given that Teuvo Teräväinen will be a top 10 selection, so he doesn't qualify.

It would be cool if somehow Darcy could land both Teräväinen and Olli Määttä in the draft. Cornering the market on umlaut-heavy players may not be an entirely bad thing....
