11/15 Recap: Makarov guides Russians to series win

Andrey Makarov stopped 22 of 24 shots Thursday as Russia clinched the 2012 Subway Super Series with a 5-2 win over Team WHL. Makarov stood tall with 57 saves in the final two games, including many on point-blank opportunities, to become the late story of the series. The Russians, who split each of their two-game sets versus the three Canadian leagues, claimed the overall victory 10-8 in points thanks to Wednesday's shootout loss to their WHL counterparts. In the OHL, Alex Lepkowski recorded an assist as Barrie downed Sarnia 5-3. The Colts, who improved to 15-5-0-1 to remain atop the Eastern Conference standings, will battle Windsor on Saturday. Justin Kea recorded an assist as Saginaw was dumped by Windsor 6-1. The 6-foot-4 centerman has gathered points in nine of his last dozen games.
