Cougars leading scorer Colin Jacobs was tossed from the game in the second period after receiving a checking to the head penalty. The two clubs will finish the two-game set Saturday night in PG.
In WCHA play, Christian Isackson snapped a 12-game goal scoring drought with his second of the year as Minnesota dropped a 3-2 decision to Nebraska-Omaha. The Gophers will look to even the series Saturday at Mariucci Arena.
Dan Catenacci recorded a pair of assists as Owen Sound earned a 6-4 win at Sudbury. The two-helper night gives Catenacci multiple points in 14 of the Attack's 27 games. The Attack continue their road trip Saturday in Sault Ste. Marie.
Elsewhere, Justin Kea did not register in Saginaw's 7-4 loss Sarnia. The Spirit will next be in action Saturday versus Ottawa.
Alex Lepkowski played to an even rating as Barrie was handed a 5-3 loss at London. The Colts are off until Thursday when they host Sudbury.
In QMJHL play, Mikhail Grigorenko (-2) was blanked for the third time in the past seven games and the fourth time all season as Quebec was defeated by Rouyn-Noranda 4-1. Losers in their last three starts, the Remparts will look to get back in the win column Sunday in Baie-Comeau.
Jake McCabe (-1) recorded a shot on goal as Wisconsin played to a 1-1 tie at league frontrunner Denver. Badgers sophomore forward Brad Navin played with an even rating. The clubs will complete the WCHA set Saturday night at Magness.
Mark Adams remained out of the Providence lineup as the Friars earned a 3-2 overtime victory over Merrimack. EDIT: Adams is scheduled for surgery next week and will be out for the remainder of the year.
In the AHL, David Leggio made 27 saves and Maxime Legault scored his first goal of the year but Rochester fell to Toronto 4-1. Brian Flynn went without a point in the loss, ending his November point streak at an impressive nine games. The teams will cross the border for a Saturday rematch in Toronto.
