1/26 Recap: Armia strikes in OT; Jacobs pots pair

Joel Armia scored twice Saturday including the overtime game winning goal as Assat earned a 3-2 win over KalPa. The 6-foot-3 winger, who also assisted on a power play goal, intercepted a pass to cash the winner just 16 seconds into the extra session. Video replays showed the puck crossed the plane, giving Armia his third three-point game of the year. The Aces remain eight points out of the final playoff spot with 15 games left.



In the WHL, Colin Jacobs scored a pair of goals as Prince George pitched a 4-0 shutout of Everett. The double was the first two-goal game of the season for Jacobs since his opening night hat trick.



Dan Catenacci was blanked for the second straight game as Owen Sound suffered a 5-0 loss to Guelph. The speedy center has not gone more than two games without a point all season long.

Alex Lepkowski finished with a plus-two rating as Barrie downed Peterborough 4-1. Generally a steady, physical force, the big defender misplayed a puck in the corner that led to the only Petes goal.

Brady Austin (+1) played his shutdown style as Belleville defeated London 3-1 to hand the Knights their ninth regulation loss of the year. The Bulls return to work Wednesday versus Kingston.

Justin Kea was unable to get in on the scoring in Saginaw's 5-4 win over Niagara. Kea continued to excel on the penalty kill, helping the Spirit to their ninth win in their last 11 games.

In NCAA action, Brad Navin assisted on the game winning goal as Wisconsin edged Alaska Anchorage 2-1. A rebound of a Navin shot was swept in by Jefferson Dahl early in the second period to give the Badgers a 2-0 lead. The was helper was Navin's third point of the season (1+2) and first since Dec. 8. Jake McCabe finished plus-one for Wisconsin, who will take on North Dakota next weekend.

Christian Isackson contributed a shot on goal as Minnesota avenged their Friday loss with a 4-1 win over Minnesota State. The Gophers are off next weekend before beginning a two-game set with St. Cloud State on Feb. 8.

In USHL play, Judd Peterson was held to a single shot on goal as Cedar Rapids was blanked by Green Bay 3-0. The Riders are off until next Friday when they host Chicago.
