McCabe on point as Americans advance

Jake McCabe earned his third point of the 2013 World Junior Championship, an assist, as Team USA easily advanced to the semi-final round with a 7-0 victory over the Czech Republic. The win sets us a rematch with continental rival Canada Thursday at 4:00 AM ET for the right to play for the gold medal.

Again paired with 2013 draft eligible Seth Jones, McCabe saw his share of ice time upped with Shayne Gostisbehere (PHI) serving a one-game IIHF suspension. The Wisconsin sophomore earned his helper when John Gaudreau struck on the power play in the first minute of the second period to give the Americans a 2-0 lead.

The Americans have improved game-over-game, allowing just seven goals all tournament, heading into their second meeting in five days with their neighbors to the north.

On Tuesday, Brady Austin finished with a minus-one rating as Belleville lost to Peterborough 4-3 in a shootout. The Bulls will look to avenge the defeat when the two clubs play it back on Thursday.
