2/5 Recap: Makarov captures fifth straight

Andrey Makarov made 34 saves Tuesday as Saskatoon overcame a 2-0 deficit to earn a 5-4 victory over Moose Jaw. Makarov, who earned the WHL’s nomination for CHL goaltender of the week after allowing two goals in three starts last week, earns his fifth win in a row to up his record to 22-16-0-3. The Blades host Prince Albert on Wednesday.

In AHL play, Frederick Roy tipped a Jonathan PArker shot into the net just 3:50 in, and Nick Tarnasky added a goal late but Rochester was defeated at Abbotsford 3-2. Connor Knapp made 17 saves in first action since Dec. 22. The loss was the Amerks' third in their last 10 games, keeping them in fourth place in the AHL's North Division. The two teams will go back at it on Wednesday.
