3/28 Recap: Nelson lights lamp in loss

Logan Nelson notched a goal and an assist Thursday as Victoria lost in overtime to Kamloops 5-4. After taking a drop pass at the Blazers blueline, Nelson drove hard to the net from the half-wall before sliding a backhand through the legs of the Kamloops netminder midway through the opening period. Trailing the series 3-1, the Blazers will look to avoid the knockout blow when the series heads back to Kamloops on Saturday.

In the OHL, Justin Kea was held pointless as Saginaw was swept from the OHL playoffs with a 6-2 loss to London. Kea registered one goal and a fighting major in the series as the Spirit were outgunned by the talented Knights roster.

In USHL play, Judd Peterson (-1) recorded five shots on goal as Cedar Rapids got past Team USA 5-1. Eliminated from playoff contention, the Riders visit Youngstown on Friday.
