3/8 Recap: Amerks blank Heat; Catenacci connects

David Leggio stopped all 44 shots he faced Friday to lead Rochester to a 5-0 victory over Abbotsford. Cody McCormick (2+1) and Brayden McNabb (1+2) posted three-point nights, while Luke Adam and Nick Tarnasky each added a goal and an assist. For McNabb, the three-point effort was his second in as many games. Former Sabres prospect Drew MacKenzie recorded a shot on goal for the Heat. The Amerks, who currently sit in the seventh position in AHL's Western Conference, will look to make it four consecutive wins on Saturday when they visit Binghamton.

In the OHL, Dan Catenacci scored his 35th goal of the season as Owen Sound stomped Erie 9-1. Catenacci's even-strength tally, which snapped a four-game point drought, gives the fourth-year centerman a personal best 73 points on the year. The Attack will remain in Erie to play a rematch with the Otters on Saturday.



Brady Austin scored his sixth goal of the year as Belleville skated to a 6-2 win at Sudbury. The power play wrister gives Austin an even 20 points through 60 games. The Bulls hold a three-point lead on Barrie for the top spot in the Eastern Conference with the two teams locking horns on Saturday.



Justin Kea (+1) went without a point as Saginaw ended their four-game losing streak with a 4-3 shootout win at Kitchener. Kea enters Saturday's tilt at Guelph with 46 points (21+25), good for fourth among Spirit forwards. Saginaw currently sits eight points ahead of Windsor for the final Western Conference playoff spot with five games left to play.

In the WHL, Andrey Makarov made 41 saves as Saskatoon got back on track with a 6-3 win over Medicine Hat. The victory snaps a two-game skid that ensued for Makarov (36-17-1-3) following his franchise record 18-game winning streak. The Blades faceoff with Regina on Saturday.

Logan Nelson notched an assist as Victoria snapped their 11-game winless skid with a 5-3 win over Vancouver. Nelson's helper ups his season haul to 40 points (12+28) through 44 games. The two clubs will square off again on Saturday.

Colin Jacobs was stopped in his shootout attempt Prince George got past Seattle 2-1. The Cougars continue their playoff chase on the road Saturday in Tri-City.

In NCAA play, Christian Isackson picked up an assist as Minnesota edged Bemidji State 4-3. Isackson, who has now gone 15 games without a goal, enters Saturday's WCHA regular season finale with 17 points (3+14) while skating in all of the Gophers' 35 contests.

Jake McCabe finished minus-one while Brad Navin punched two shots on goal as Wisconsin dropped a 4-2 decision to St. Cloud State. The Badgers will need to get a win in Saturday's rematch to have a shot at hosting a first-round WCHA playoff series.
