Possler producing; Ullmark gets international nod

Gustav Possler earned an assist Wednesday as MODO opened the SCA Cup with a 4-1 win over Timra. The even strength helper gives Possler points in both of his preseason appearances heading into Thursday's tilt with Sundsvall. MODO is looking for a repeat title in the 40th edition of the preseason tournament.

Goaltender Linus Ullmark did not play for MODO as he is traveling with Team Sweden to the Czech Hockey Games. The international gathering held in St. Petersburg, Russia and Pardubice, Czech Republic serves as the first stop of the 2013-14 Euro Hockey Tour. The Swedes will begin tourney play Thursday versus Russia, with Ullmark expected to serve in a backup role to ex-Calgary Flames netminder Henrik Karlsson.

At the Junior Club World Cup in Omsk, Russia, Nick Baptiste was held off the score sheet as Sudbury earned their first win of the week 4-1 over Frolunda. Baptiste has gathered a goal and two assists through the first three games while skating on a line with Matthew Campagna and Nathan Cull. The Wolves move on to face HC Riga on Thursday.
