11/1 Recap: Ullmark stops 'em all; Locke unloads

Linus Ullmark was a stud in net Friday, stopping 25 shots for his second straight shutout and second of his SHL career as MODO downed Linkopings 5-0. Ullmark's second blanking in as many weeks keeps him atop all league netminders with a .946 save% and second with a 1.64 GAA. Gustav Possler maintained his spot MODO's top point point producer with added an assist. MODO heads back home to face HV71 on Sunday.

In OHL action, Eric Locke earned the game's number one star by notching a pair of goals to go along with two assists as Saginaw skated to their third-straight victory with a  6-3 doubling of Owen Sound. Justin Kea was plus-one while seeing his two-game point streak come to a halt. Saginaw looks to continue their winning ways Saturday when they host Sault Ste. Marie.

Justin Bailey stole a puck to pick up an assist as Kitchener took a 6-3 drubbing at Guelph. Bailey has helpers in two straight games but hasn't lit the lamp since October 4, a span on nine games. Kitchener will look to end their five-game skid Sunday at Mississauga.

Nick Baptiste (-1) saw his six-game point streak come to an end as Sudbury lost to London 4-1. Knights defender Brady Austin sat the game out with what the team deemed a minor injury. Next up for Sudbury is a Saturday visit to Sarnia. London will look to keep moving in the right direction Sunday versus red-hot Erie.

In the WHL, Logan Nelson was kept off the score sheet as Victoria dropped a 2-1 decision to Red Deer. Losers of two straight, the Royals will look to get back on track in Saturday's rematch with the Rebels.

In the AHL, Rochester got out to a 4-1 lead thanks to goals from Luke Adam, Jamie Tardif, Brayden McNabb, and Kevin Sundher, but it wasn't enough as the Amerks were handed a 5-4 shootout loss at Syracuse. Matt Hackett stopped 36 of 40 shots in the Amerks cage, while McNabb added three assists to his goal for the first four-point night of his AHL career, and first since a four-assist night back on 2/8/11 while with Kootenay (WHL). Phil Varone produced a pair of assists and now has points in all eight games this season. The Amerks host Hamilton on Wednesday.



In the NCAA ranks, Sean Malone contributed four shots on net from the second-line center spot as Harvard blanked RPI 2-0. Through his first three NCAA outings, the West Seneca, NY native has two assists and 10 shots on goal. The Crimson will battle perennial ECAC power Union on Saturday.

Jake McCabe recorded a pair of helpers as Wisconsin played to a 3-3 tie with Lake Superior State. Brad Navin recorded two shots on goal for the Badgers, who will close out the non-conference set on Saturday.

JT Compher registered four shots on goal as Michigan earned a 3-2 overtime triumph over Michigan Tech. Michigan will look for the non-conference sweep Saturday night at Yost.

Anthony Florentino (3 SOG) moved up to the second defensive pair as Providence opened the Hockey East slate with a 4-3 defeat at Boston University. The clubs will complete the home-and-home set Saturday night in Providence.

In USHL action, Judd Peterson pumped two shots on goal as Cedar Rapids edged Indiana 3-2. The Riders were outshot by a 40-15 margin but were able to walk away with the victory. Cedar Rapids visits Muskegon on Saturday.

In ECHL play, Andrey Makarov won his pro debut by stopping 26 of 27 shots as Fort Wayne earned a 3-1 win at Las Vegas. Makarov was sent to Fort Wayne from Rochester on Thursday.Fellow Sabres prospect Shawn Szydlowski recorded one shot on goal for the victors.
