11/29 Recap: Amerks win; Compher, Petersen solid

In Friday action, Joel Armia scored his second goal of the season, and Johan Larsson scored for the second-straight game and added an assist as Rochester defeated Lake Erie 5-3. Phil Varone scored the game winning goal with 1:58 remaining in regulation. Frederick Roy and Jamie Tardif (ENG) rounded out the Amerks scoring, while Nathan Lieuwen made 33 saves to get his second victory in a row. Rasmus Ristolainen notched two helpers for his second-straight two-point game. The Amerks take on Toronto on Saturday.



In the college ranks, J.T. Compher buried a backhand rebound for his third goal of the year and added an assist as No. 3 Michigan skated past Ohio State 4-3 in overtime. The freshman pivot now has multiple points in four of his first 12 collegiate games. Michigan heads to Ohio State on Monday.



Jake McCabe (-2) recorded an assist and added three shots on goal as No. 12/13 Wisconsin opened the B1G schedule with a 4-1 loss at No. 1 Minnesota. Brad Navin was even while skating in fourth-line minutes for the Badgers. Christian Isackson was a healthy scratch for the Gophers. The two clubs play it back on Saturday.

In the USHL, Cal Petersen stopped all 21 shots he faced to earn his first shutout of the year as Waterloo blanked Cedar Rapids 3-0. Judd Peterson finished minus-one for the RoughRiders in defeat. Waterloo hosts Sioux City on Saturday, while Cedar Rapids visits Indiana on Sunday.

Connor Hurley (-2) recorded one shot on goal as Muskegon got shellacked by Green Bay 7-2. Hurley has gone three games with a point for the first time this season. The Jacks get another crack at the Gamblers on Saturday.

In the OHL, Nikita Zadorov notched a short-handed goal and an assist as London pitched a 4-0 shutout of North Bay. Zadorov now has points in all four games since returning to the OHL (1+3). Brady Austin picked up an assist in the win for the Knights, who host Peterborough on Saturday.

Justin Kea (-1) did not score as Saginaw dropped a 2-1 overtime decision at Sarnia. Nickolay Goldobin scored his 17th goal of the year to seal the OT victory for the Sting. Next up for the Spirit is a Saturday night tilt with Oshawa.

Nick Baptiste picked up a pair of assists and got into his first scrap of the season as Sudbury got past Niagara 6-4. Sudbury hosts Ottawa on Sunday.



Justin Bailey (+1) was held off the score sheet for a second-straight game as Kitchener downed Owen Sound 4-3 in overtime. Draft eligible forward Darby Llewellyn scored his second of the game and 11th of the year in the extra session to get the Rangers the win. Kitchener heads to Barrie on Saturday.

In WHL action, Logan Nelson pocketed a pair of assists as Victoria bested Tri-City 3-1. Victoria visits Seattle on Saturday.

In ECHL action, Jonathan Parker scored the game winning goal as Colorado edged Alaska 2-1. Colorado battles Ontario on Saturday.

Andrey Makarov got the night off as Fort Wayne lost at Kalamazoo 4-0. Fort Wayne faces Florida on Saturday.
