12/21 Recap: Makarov shines

In Saturday action,  Andrey Makarov stopped a season-high 43 of 44 shots Saturday to earn the game's number one star as Fort Wayne lost a 2-1 shootout decision to Reading. Shawn Szydlowski registered a minor penalty for the losing side.The Komets are back in action Friday versus Toledo.



Jonathan Parker scored his sixth goal of the year as Colorado edged San Francisco 4-3 in a shootout. Parker now has points in four straight games, and 17 in 18 appearances overall this season for the Eagles. Colorado closes their three-game stanza with San Francisco on Sunday.

Goaltender Connor Knapp served as backup as Greenville doubled Florida 8-4. The Road Warriors visit Orlando on Sunday.

In Cleveland, Luke Adam scored his 14th goal of the year and Nick Tuzzolino netted his first AHL goal of the year as Rochester fell in overtime 3-2 to Lake Erie. Johan Larsson added a pair of assists for the Amerks, while Mark Pysyk and Dan Catenacci recorded single helpers in the loss. Matt Hackett finished the night with 17 saves for the Amerks, who will head over the pond tow Switzerland for the holiday break to participate in the 2013 Spengler Cup.
