12/28 Recap: Bailey breaks off two; Locke returns

Justin Bailey emerged from the holiday break Saturday appearing rested and focused, scoring his 13th and 14th goals of the year as Kitchener defeated Erie 6-2. Bailey, who earned the game's number two star, has goals in three straight games and a total of five in his last five. Draft eligible Brandon Robinson was named the game's number star after recording the hat trick for the Rangers, who play a rematch with the Otters Tuesday in Erie.



Justin Kea notched his 14th goal of the season as Saginaw was upended by Windsor 4-1. Spirit captain Eric Locke finished with an even rating in his first action since injuring his shoulder back on Nov. 15. Draft eligible forward Nikita Yazkov scored his fifth goal of the year for the Spitfires. Saginaw and Windsor will play for the third-straight game Sunday as part of an OHL outdoor double-header at Comerica Park.



Nick Baptiste recorded a pair of assists as Sudbury doubled North Bay 4-2. Baptiste's double-helping puts him at 44 points (20+24) through 34 games. The Wolves visit Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday.

On night after making his return from a upper-body injury, Logan Nelson was back as a scratch as Victoria bested Prince George 5-2. No official word as to whether it's a day-to-day issue or if the previous injury was re-aggravated.

In the consolation game of the Great Lakes Invitational at Comerica Park, J.T. Compher (2 SOG) couldn't generate much as #3 Michigan fell to Michigan State 3-0.The Wolverines are off until Jan. 10 when they head to Madison for a key B1G set with #15 Wisconsin.

Jake McCabe (3 SOG) and Brad Navin (2 SOG) were unable to register any points as #15 Wisconsin edged Alabama-Huntsville 3-2. The Badgers host Alaska Anchorage on Friday.

In the Junior A ranks, Cal Petersen got a light night of work, stopping 14 of 16 shots sent his way as Waterloo rolled Cedar Rapids 6-2. The Black Hawks return to action Tuesday night versus Lincoln. Judd Peterson notched an assist for the losing side to give him points in five of his last six games. Petersen, who scored his 11th goal of the year in game #23 Friday, had 11 goals total last season in 46 USHL contests.

Connor Hurley was kept off the score sheet was Green Bay edged Dubuque 2-1. The Gamblers next host Cedar Rapids in a Tuesday night New Year's Eve tilt.

In the ECHL, Jonathan Parker scored his seventh and eighth goals of the year as Colorado came up short 5-3 against Utah. Parker how has 14 points in his last 11 games and 20 points (8+12) in 21 games this season for the Eagles, who are off until Friday's matchup with Bakersfield.

Andrey Makarov allowed five goals on 27 shots as Fort Wayne was defeated by Evansville 5-2. Shawn Szydlowski finished with a minus-one rating for the Komets, who take on Gwinnett on Sunday.

Connor Knapp was given the night off as Greenville downed Elmira 4-2. The two teams play it again on Sunday.
