1/23 Recap: Baptiste pots pair; Ullmark streak halted

Nick Baptiste scored a pair of goals Thursday as Sudbury was defeated by Peterborough 7-4. The markers give the speedy winger 27 goals and 57 points through 45 games. Hunter Garlent had a hat trick and two assists for the Petes, while draft eligible forward Nick Ritchie pocketed a goal and three helpers.



Eric Locke picked up an assist as Saginaw lost to North Bay 5-1. The Spirit captain has 13 points (7+6) in 11 games since returning from a shoulder injury. Justin Kea finished with a minus-one rating for Saginaw, who meet up with Baptiste's Wolves on Friday.

In NCAA action, J.T.  Compher scored his seventh goal of the year as No. 14 Michigan edged rival Michigan State 2-1. Compher's goal gives him 16 points in 19 collegiate contests. The two clubs complete the B1G set on Friday.

In the QMJHL, Mikhail Grigorenko posted five shots on goal as Quebec came back to down Gatineau 6-2. Next up for the Remparts is a Saturday visit to Val-d'Or.

In the AHL, Luke Adam scored a pair of goals and Nathan Lieuwen stopped 31 shots as Rochester won at Lake Erie 4-1. Dan Catenacci added a pair of assist for the Amerks, who continue their road trip Saturday at Binghamton.



In Sweden, Linus Ullmark made 27 saves as MODO lost to Vaxjo 3-1. The loss ends Ullmark's season-best six-game winning streak. MODO hosts Linkopings on Saturday.

Connor Knapp made his Florida Everblades debut, stopping 20 shots in a 4-2 loss to South Carolina. Knapp was assigned to Florida after playing 16 games with the Greenville Road Warriors.
