1/30 Recap: Baptiste's big night; Russians mark in routs

Nick Baptiste connected for two power play goals and a pair of assists Thursday as Sudbury skated to a 7-5 victory over Barrie. Baptiste has been on fire since the flip of the calendar, notching 10 goals and 18 points in 12 January games. He has posted 21 multiple-point efforts this season, while his second goal of the night made him the first Sabres prospect this season to hit the 30-goal mark.

Nikita Zadorov unloaded for his fifth goal of the year and added an assist as London cruised past North Bay 8-3. The hulking defender has 15 points in his 17 games with the Knights. Brady Austin finished with an even rating for London, who return to action Friday against Baptiste and the Wolves.

In the QMJHL, Mikhail Grigorenko notched a power play goal and an assist as Quebec smoked Halifax 8-2. Grigorenko has four goals, including three game winners, and four assists in five games since being assigned to the Remparts. Draft eligible winger Nikolaj Ehlers scored his 29th goal for the Mooseheads in defeat. Quebec gets right back to work with a Friday tilt with Blainville-Boisbriand.
