2/19 Recap: Varone strikes again

Phil Varone scored in overtime for the second-straight game Wednesday to lead Rochester to a 3-2 victory over Iowa. Johan Larsson scored his ninth of the year late in the third to force extra time, while Nathan Lieuwen stopped 18 of 20 shots to pick up his 13th win of the year and eighth in his last 10 starts. Joel Armia notched an assist to give him points in two straight games for a line of 5-10-15 after 33 games.



In the WHL, Logan Nelson scored his 20th goal of the year and added an assist as Victoria earned a 5-2 win at Brandon. The points elevate Nelson's total to 47 through 49 games, including 14 (8+6) in his last 11 outings.

In the ECHL, Connor Knapp made 29 saves to earn the game's number two start as Florida bested Fort Wayne 4-1. Andrey Makarov stopped 22 shots in defeat for the Komets, while Shawn Szydlowski logged a minus-one rasting.
