3/7 Recap: Grigo guides Remparts; Carrier connects

Mikhail Grigorenko snatched a goal and three assists Friday to lead Quebec to a 7-2 shellacking of Shawinigan. Grigorenko has 10 points in his last three tilts to lift his season total to 33 (14+19) through 19 games. The Remparts have won six of their last 10 contests to maintain the sixth position in the league standings with four left to play.

William Carrier struck twice to guide Drummondville to a 2-1 victory over Sherbrooke. The markers give Carrier 20 goals, including six game winners, and 61 points through 63 games. The Voltigeurs are one point behind the Remparts in seventh place entering the final week of the regular season schedule.



In AHL action, Joel Armia gathered a goal and an assist, and Nathan Lieuwen made 28 saves while earning an assist of his own as Rochester downed Syracuse 4-1. Johan Larsson, Jamie Tardif, and Tim Schaller also scored for the Amerks. Chad Ruhwedel contributed two helpers, while Dan Catenacci, Mark Pysyk, and Phil Varone provided single assists. The two clubs will play it back Saturday in Syracuse.



In the OHL, Nikita Zadorov and Brady Austin went without points as London pasted Kitchener 10-5. Kitchener forward Justin Bailey remained out of action for the 10th game in a row. With a Plymouth win on Thursday, the Rangers were officially knocked out of playoff contention.

Nick Baptiste earned an assist with two ticks left on the clock to force overtime as Sudbury was defeated by Belleville 2-1 in a shootout. Baptiste has points in four straight games to up his season total to 83 (42+41) through 62 contests.

In the WHL, Logan Nelson was blanked for the second straight game as Victoria downed Kamloops 5-1. The Minnesota native has 50 points this season for the third-place Royals with five games left to play.

Sean Malone finished with a minus-three rating as Harvard opened their first round playoff series with a 4-0 loss at Yale. Malone, who previously was named Co-Rookie of the Year in the annual All-Ivy League awards, will look to get back on track Saturday as the Crimson try to even the best-of-three series.

J.T. Compher notched an assist as Michigan smoked rival Michigan State 7-1. Compher's 29 points (11+18) in 31 games continues to lead all team skaters. The two clubs complete the home-and-home set Saturday in East Lansing.

Jake McCabe collected an assist as Wisconsin doubled Penn State 4-2. The helper extends McCabe's career-high point total to 23 (7+16) through 31 games. Brad Navin recorded two shots on goal for the Bagders, who wrap up their first visit to State College on Saturday.

Hudson Fasching produced one shot on goal as Minnesota cruised to a 5-1 win at Ohio State. The freshman winger is third in team scoring with 27 points 912+15) in 32 games.

In the USHL, Connor Hurley registered three shots on goal as Green Bay skated to a 4-1 victory over Fargo. Hurley's two game point streak was snapped in the win, leaving the rookie centerman with 40 points (11+29) through 46 games.

Cal Petersen backed up for the third-straight game as Waterloo edged Sioux City 3-2. Despite not yet playing in the month of March, Petersen continues to lead all league goaltenders with 24 wins, while amassing a 2.51 GAA (4th) and a .916 save% (7th).

Judd Peterson missed his eighth game with an injury as Cedar Rapids lost to Team USA 5-4 in overtime. Jr. Sabres product Andrew Poturalski scored twice to pace the Roughriders in defeat.

In the ECHL, Jerome Gauthier-Leduc logged two shots on goal as Gwinnett edged Florida 3-2. Gauthier-Leduc has four points and 14 shots on goal in eight coast league appearances.
