5/9-10 Recap: Petersen excellent as Hawks split at home

Cal Petersen made saves 59 saves Saturday to earn the game's number one star as Waterloo was defeated by Indiana 3-2 in double overtime in Game Two of the Clark Cup Championship series. Both regulation goals allowed by Petersen came with the Ice up a man, but it was an even-strength wraparound attempt that popped up and over the goal line in the game's 87th minute to get Indiana the victory. The home-ice loss, which was followed by a round of applause from the Waterloo faithful, drops Petersen to 7-0-2 in nine playoff starts with a 2.27 GAA and .930 save%.

The best-of-five championship series is now locked at one game apiece with the teams heading to Indianapolis for Friday's Game Three.

On Friday, Petersen made 32 saves as the Black Hawks opened the series with a 4-2 victory. The Ice held a 2-0 early in the second period thanks to a rebound put-back and a long-range shot through traffic before the the Black Hawks were able to bury four unanswered goals to take the victory.
