10/26 Recap: Bailey bags winner; Willman debuts

Justin Bailey scored the game-winning goal Sunday as Kitchener capped the three-game weekend with a 6-2 victory over Ottawa. The big winger entered the zone, galloped into space and snapped a shot glove side at 10:13 of the middle frame to give the Rangers a 3-1 lead.


The goal, Bailey's ninth of the year, gives him 16 points through his first dozen games. Travis Konecny ('15) scored off a laser-beam shot and added an assist for the 67's, while fellow draft eligible Dante Salituro connected for his 12th marker in as many games. Kitchener is back in action Saturday at Owen Sound.

In the QMJHL, Vaclav Karabacek notched an assist and four shots on goal as Gatineau skated to a 6-4 triumph over Sherbrooke. Karabacek has four goals and 12 points for the Olympiques, who return to work Saturday at Rouyn-Noranda.

In ECHL action. Justin Kea supplied two shots on goal as Elmira got past Reading 3-1. The Jackals next host Brampton for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday.

Elsewhere, Max Willman scored an empty-net goal as Brown opened the year with a 3-1 exhibition win at Dartmouth. The freshman skated at the left wing spot on Brown's second line. The games start counting on Friday when the Bears visit Army.

In Swedish junior action, Jonas Johansson made 25 saves in his second rehabilitation tune-up as Brynas lost to Djurgardens 7-4. Johansson allowed six goals as in the loss to inflate his gloals against average to 4.02 while lowering his save percentage to .889 through two J20 starts. Brynas faces Vasteras on Saturday.
