10/9 Recap: Cornel gets pair as Petes fall in OT

Eric Cornel scored his first two goals of the season Thursday as Peterborough fell to Windsor 5-4 in overtime. The goals give Cornel points in three straight and a total of five (2+3) through his first four games of the season for the Petes, who dropped an OT decision for the second-straight contest. Peterborough will look to reverse the trend Saturday in Plymouth.

In the SHL, Victor Olofsson picked up an assist in 13:54 of work as MODO was defeated by Djurgårdens IF 4-3. Olofsson was elevated to a second line role for this one, while Gustav Possler went without a point for the third straight contest while earning 16:58 of ice time. Linus Ullmark got the start for MODO, allowing three goals on seven shots before being replaced by Adam Reideborn just 2:27 into the middle frame. Ullmark's early season struggles place him at the bottom of the SHL goalie charts with a 4.53 GAA and .847 save%. MODO gets back to work Saturday versus Lulea.

In NCAA exhibition action, J.T. Compher and other top players were given a night off as No. 9 Michigan skated to a 5-2 victory over CIS opponent Wilfrid Laurier. The Wolverines host New Hampshire for a non-conference set next weekend.
