11/16 Recap: Baptiste connects

In Sunday junior action, Nick Baptiste scored his sixth goal of the year but was stopped in his shootout attempt as Sudbury defeated Kitchener 3-2. Baptiste's goal gives him an even 10 points in his first 10 games of the season. Justin Bailey picked up an assist and a shootout goal for the Rangers to push his team-leading line to 14-15-29 through 19 appearances.


Sudbury is at North Bay on Thursday. The Rangers, who have now earned at least one point in their last 15 games, are off until Friday when they host Windsor.

In the QMJHL, Vaclav Karabacek produced one shot on goal as Gatineau edged Sherbrooke 1-0. The Czech winger has produced 15 points (6+9) in 21 games, but has yet to put together a consistent offensive stretch. Gatineau hits the road Friday for a meeting at Blainville-Boisbriand.

In WHL action, Brycen Martin finished with an even rating and a tripping minor in Swift Current's 2-1 victory over Seattle. Martin has gathered eight points (0+8) and a plus-two rating through 23 games. His longest stretch without a goal last season lasted 21 games. The Broncos host Brandon on Wednesday.

In Sweden, Jonas Johansson made 25 saves as Brynas J20 edged Skelleftea AIK 2-1. The victory moves Johansson's J20 record to 2-2 with a 3.02 GAA and .902 save%.
