Hudson Fasching scored his fifth goal of the year Sunday as No. 1 Minnesota defeated Notre Dame 4-2 to earn the sweep of the Big Ten/Hockey East Challenge series. Following a faceoff win, Fasching set up back door on the power play and finished off a pretty passing play to make it a 2-0 game at 6:24 of the opening period. The sophomore power forward now has seven points in his first eight games. Gophers forward Christian Isackson continued to receive limited fourth line minutes, finishing with one shot on goal and an even rating.
Cal Petersen earned his fifth straight start for Notre Dame, stopping six of nine shots in the opening period before being relieved by Chad Katunar for the balance of the contest. Connor Hurley (-1) went without a point for the fourth straight game to leave him with a goal and four assists through nine games.

Justin Bailey notched an assist as Kitchener lost in overtime 5-4 to Saginaw. Bailey continues to lead the Rangers with 10 goals and 22 points through 16 games. Kitchener, who has now gone a full month without losing in regulation, is off until Friday when they host Plymouth.
Eric Cornel (-1) had some strong shifts but was unable to produce as Peterborough was toppled by Oshawa 6-1. Michael Dal Colle (NYI) scored twice and added an assist for the winning side. Cornel has 14 points (5+9) in 16 games for the struggling Petes, who get back to work Friday at North Bay.

Draft eligible defenseman Nicolas Meloche scored two goals an assist for the Drakkar to earn the game's number two star. Karabacek will look to get his offense on track Friday when the Olympiques visit Rimouski.
