Sabres ink Dupuy

The Buffalo Sabres announced Friday the signing of free agent forward Jean Dupuy to a three-year entry-level contract.

Dupuy, 20, is a scrappy, physical winger with a powerful skating game and persistence on the forecheck. His high character, team-first attitude sees him win puck battles along the boards, kill penalties and defend his teammates. His blue-collar body of work in the Ontario Hockey League earned him a training camp invite from the Winnipeg Jets, but he was unable to secure an AHL job and was returned back to junior for an overage season.

Serving this season as an alternate captain for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, Dupuy has collected five goals, including one game-winner, and a career-high 19 points in 19 games. He leads all Hounds forwards with a plus-16 rating, and has dropped the gloves once as needed with pretty solid results.
