SHL: Ullmark stands tall in victory

Three of the Sabres' four Swedish prospects were in action Saturday as the SHL played a full six-game schedule prior to enjoying a week-and-a-half international break.

Linus Ullmark returned to the crease for his third consecutive start, stopping 39 of 42 shots as MODO posted a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over HV 71. Ullmark was under pressure for two periods, but came up big with a few point-blank stops as MODO trailed 3-1 at the second intermission.

It was all MODO from there with the red and white striking for three quick goals in the first 6:11 of the final frame to gain control of the action. Ullmark stopped all 13 shots sent his way in the third period to earn his second straight victory and an even 5-5 record through 11 starts.

Victor Olofsson extended his point streak to three games when his whiffed shot resulted in a primary assist on MODO's first goal of the game. Ever the viable trigger man, Olofsson saw his point attempt deflect back to Marko Kauppinen, who buried the chance for the go-ahead goal in the third period. The helpers give Olofsson 12 points in his first 18 games.

Gustav Possler got a head start on the break as he was forced to sit out the contest after suffering an upper body injury in Thursday's shootout victory over Orebro. The top-line winger enters the break with three goals and eight points in 17 appearances,

MODO returns to work Thursday, Nov. 13 versus Djurgardens IF.

Brynas is also off until Nov. 13 when they take on Farjestads BK.
