SWE: Ullmark excels, Possler points in MODO win

In Saturday action, Linus Ullmark made 25 saves and Gustav Possler notched one assist as MODO skated to a 4-1 victory over Lulea HF.

Possler helped get MODO on the board late in the opening frame when he entered the zone, cut to the middle, and turned his body to drop the puck off to a streaking Nichlas Torp for the finish. The helper gives the 20-year-old winger 12 points (6+6) through 24 games.

Later in the third period, Possler again entered the zone but met a different fate when he absorbed a big hit high in the center lane. He was down for a few seconds but skated off with ease and returned for his next shift.

Ullmark turned in another solid performance while starting for the 10th time in MODO's last 11 contests. He presents quite a challenge to shooters when he creeps out to the edge of the white ice. He seals off the bottom shelf, and his upper body is so big when he drops to his knees that shooters don't have a ton of mesh to shoot at. The victory improves his record to 7-10 with a 3.42 GAA, while his recent excellence has elevated his save percentage to a season-high .902.

Victor Olofsson logged one shot on net while receiving 11:58 of work.

Former NHLer Donald Brashear saw one 31-second shift in his European debut for MODO.

MODO gets a few days of rest before a Thursday visit to Farjestads BK.
