In the AHL, Matt Ellis scored his sixth goal of the year and Andrey Makarov stopped 23 of 26 shots as Rochester continued their skid with a 3-1 loss to Utica. After being shut out in their previous two games, Ellis finally lit the lamp at 2:38 of the third period to make it a 1-1 game. Third-year man Jerome Leduc moved back to defense after playing the past two weeks at right wing. The Amerks, who have won once in their last eight games and just three times in their last 17, close their four-game road swing on Friday at Hamilton.
