12/23 Recap: Compher scores as USA rolls

J.T. Compher scored a shorthanded goal Tuesday to help Team USA to a 10-5 victory over Sweden in World Junior pre-tournament action. Compher has three goals in three exhibition games for Team USA after posting three in 15 contests for Michigan prior to joining camp. Team USA winger Hudson Fasching picked up an assist for the second straight game. Victor Olofsson was unable to produce a point for Sweden.

Alex Tuch (MIN) posted a hat trick to pace the American attack. Auston Mathews ('16) and Tyler Motte (CHI) each added pairs while Brandon Carlo ('15) and Nick Schmaltz (CHI) supplies singles. Sonny Milano (CBJ) logged five assists as 14 different USA skaters earned a point in the victory.

Elsewhere, Sam Reinhart recorded one assist as Canada blanked Switzerland 6-0. Reinhart's linemate Max Domi (ARZ) recorded a hat trick to lead the Canadians. Brayden Point (TBL), Nick Ritchie (ANA) and Jake Virtanen (VAN) also scored for Canada.

The teams will get two days off before Friday's start of the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.
