1/1 Recap: Cornel connects in shootout

Eric Cornel saw his point drought hit four games but he was able to notch the shootout winner as Peterborough defeated Mississauga 5-4. Cornel has not scored a goal in his last 10 games. He has 28 points (8+20) in 34 games for the struggling Petes, who despite the win remain in last place in the OHL's East Division standings. The Petes are at Belleville on Saturday.

Justin Bailey (-2) was unable to to earn a point and was stopped in the shootout as Kitchener edged Owen Sound 5-4. Bailey, who entered the game with a four-game point streak, still saw his hard work pay off when he stole a puck, drove hard to the slot and was taken down by Zach Nastasiuk (DET) for a penalty. Rangers forward Ryan MacInnis (ARI) capitalized on the ensuing power play. Kitchener is back in action Friday versus Niagara.
