1/16 Recap: Fasching ends drought

Hudson Fasching snapped a nine-game goal drought Friday with his sixth of the year as Minnesota surrendered a pair of late goals to end in a 2-2 tie with Wisconsin. The sophomore winger gave the Gophers a 2-0 lead at 6:51 of the third period when he went to the net and had shot deflect off his glove for his sixth goal of the season. Minnesota senior Christian Isackson supplied one shot on goal in a fourth line role. Wisconsin senior co-captain Brad Navin logged two shots on goal, including one midway through the final frame as the Badgers surged to the tie. The B1G counterparts will look to settle the score on Saturday in game two of the weekend border war.

J.T. Compher (-2) did not point as Michigan dominated Ohio State 10-6. Freshman forward Dylan Larkin (DET) posted a five-point night with two goals and three helpers to lead the Wolverines. Compher has four goals and 12 points in 18 games. Michigan continues conference play next weekend at Wisconsin.

Cal Petersen stopped 17 of 20 shots as Notre Dame and Connecticut played to a 3-3 tie. The effort moves Petersen to 5-8-2  on the year with a 2.68 GAA and.901 save%. Connor Hurley posted a season-high four shots on goal for the Fighting Irish, who complete the home-and-home series with Huskies Sunday in Storrs.

Judd Peterson (-1) was unable to produce as St. Cloud State was defeated 3-1 at Denver. Peterson has four points in his first 21 collegiate games. 

Max Willman produced two shots on goal as Brown was blanked by Yale 1-0. Thr freshman winger has gone without a point in his last 11 games. The teams will play it back on Saturday.

Sean Malone remained out of the lineup as Harvard doubled Clarkson 6-3. The Crimson tangle with St. Lawrence on Saturday.


WHL

Sam Reinhart collected three assists as Kootenay downed Prince Albert 5-2. Reinhart has earned a point in 17 of 19 games since returning to junior for a line of 9-23-32. The ICE visit Saskatoon on Saturday.

Brycen Martin notched two assists as Saskatoon held on to defeat Medicine Hat 5-4. The newly acquired defender has a goal and three helpers in his first three games with the Blades.

OHL

Nick Baptiste went without a point as Erie downed Kingston 7-4. Baptiste entered the weekend with points in nine of his last 10 games. Lawson Crouse ('15) potted a short-handed goal for the Frontenacs. The Otters host North Bay on Saturday.

Justin Bailey and Jean Dupuy were kept off the score sheet as Sault Ste. Marie edged Guelph 3-2. Bailey has gone without a point in two of his five games with the Hounds. Dupuy has cashed one goal in his last 11 games. The Greyhounds are off until Thursday when they visit Brendan Lemieux and the Barrie Colts.


QMJHL

Vaclav Karabacek sat out with a lower body injury as Baie-Comeau got past Acadie-Bathurst 4-1. Karabacek was injured in the first period of the Drakkar's Tuesday victory over Victoriaville. Baie-Comeau hosts Shawinigan on Saturday.


USHL

Christopher Brown (+1) contributed three shots on goal as Green Bay dropped a 6-4 decision to Cedar Rapids. Brown will look to end a six-game goal drought on Saturday when the Gamblers and RoughRiders go at it again.
