1/22 Recap: Cornel connects

Eric Cornel scored his 10th goal of the year Thursday as Peterborough was defeated by Oshawa 5-2. The redirection marker was Cornel's first in six games and just his second in his last 17 outings. Cornel has 32 points in 41 games for the last-place Petes, who have lost their last four games.

Justin Bailey notched two assists as Sault Ste. Marie hung on a for a 4-3 victory over Barrie. The helpers elevates Bailey's career-high point total to 50 (27+23) through 41 games. Jean Dupuy did not register a point for the Hounds, while Barrie forward Brendan Lemieux finished with a minus-one rating but still made a dent in the game when he pressured Greyhounds goaltender Brandon Halverson into passing a puck into his own net.



Sam Reinhart recorded one assist as Kootenay closed out Edmonton 5-3. The centerman earned a roughing minor in back-to-back games for the first time in his junior career, making it just the second time in his 225-game WHL career that he has earned a penalty in two straight contests. On Tuesday, Reinhart collected two assists in a 4-3 victory over Vancouver, putting the ICE captain at 10 goals and 36 points through 22 games entering the weekend.

In Sweden, Gustav Possler recorded two assists including one on the game-winner as MODO downed Djurgarden IF 3-2 in overtime. Linus Ullmark saw his first action since January 3, stopping 30 of 32 shots to claim the victory. Victor Olofsson did not produce while logging 6:31 of ice time, his lowest workload since November.

Jonas Johansson made 34 saves as Brynas IF J20 earned a 7-4 win over Timra IK J20. Johansson is now 2-0 with a 2.88 GAA and .918 save% since returning to action after missing a month due to injury.
