1/23 Recap: Bailey, Armia key victories

Justin Bailey produced two goals and two assists Friday to earn the game's first star as Sault Ste. Marie claimed a 7-5 victory at Mississauga. Bailey has seven goals and 13 points in seven games as a member of the Greyhounds, and a total of 54 points (29+25) on the year. Jean Dupuy added an empty-net goal, his career-high 10th of the year, and an assist for the Hounds.



In the AHL, Joel Armia scored a highlight reel goal and earned the primary assist on Phil Varone's game-winner as Rochester edged Adirondack 3-2. Zac Dalpe also scored for the Amerks, while Matt Hackett made 21 saves to earn his first AHL victory since Feb. 7, 2014. Mikhail Grigorenko added an assist on the Varone winner to give him points in four straight games and a total 11 (3+8) in his last six.



Elsewhere, Nicholas Baptiste (+1) picked up an assist on a Connor McDavid marker as Erie earned a 3-2 come-from-behind win at Guelph. Baptiste has 20 points (9+11) in 19 games since being dealt to the Otters, keeping him at a point-per-game pace through 31 total contests.



J.T. Compher (+1, 2 SOG) notched an assist on the power play as No. 16 Michigan bested Wisconsin 7-4. Compher's helper gives him 13 points (4+9) through 19 games. Brad Navin was unable to register for the Badgers.



Cal Petersen turned in a masterful 37-save performance as Notre Dame gave up a late goal to take a 3-2 loss at Northeastern. The goal, which came off a two-on-one rush with 1:30 remaining in regulation, did nothing to sour Petersen's excellent 60-minute effort. Connor Hurley finished with a minus-one rating for the Irish, who go for the split with the Huskies on Saturday.

Hudson Fasching contributed two shots on goal as No. 17 Minnesota was outgunned by No. 1 Minnesota State 4-2. Fasching has a goal and two assists in six games since returning from the World Junior Championship. Fourth line centerman Christian Isackson logged a plus-one rating for the Gophers.

Anthony Florentino (+2) produced one shot on goal as Providence defeated Lowell 7-3. Florentino has finished with an even rating or better in eight straight contests. Mark Adams (+1) returned to action after missing seven games due to injury.

Judd Peterson was unable to connect as St. Cloud State rolled past Western Michigan 7-0. Peterson has gone without a point in his last six games.

Max Willman finished with a minus-one rating as Brown was hammered by Clarkson 6-0. Willman has gone without a goal since potting Brown's first of the year in their season opener on Halloween night, a span of 16 games.

Sean Malone remained out of the Harvard lineup due to injury as the Crimson were defeated 3-2 at Cornell.

In the ECHL, Justin Kea and Colin Jacobs (-1) were each unable to connect as Elmira earned a 3-1 win at Brampton.Jacobs has a goal and an assist in his last seven games.Kea played his first game back with the Jackals after spending a month with the Amerks.
