2/11 Recap: Austin's first guides Amerks; Bailey cruising

Brady Austin scored his first professional goal Wednesday as Rochester held on for a 2-1 victory at Utica. The goal, which arrived with one second remaining in the first period, held up as the game winner. Austin has five points in 41 AHL contests.



Jerome Leduc scored the Amerks' first goal of the night, giving him nine points (4+5) in an even 50 games this season.



William Carrier secured two assists to earn the game's number two star, while Matt Hackett stopped 22 shots to pick up his third victory of the season. Jake McCabe was kept off the score sheet, putting a halt to his six-game point streak.

In the OHL, Justin Bailey connected for his 31st goal of the year as Sault Ste. Marie toppled Sarnia 5-2. The power play marker was Bailey's 61st point of the season.


Eric Cornel (-2) earned a fighting major as Peterborough was defeated by Kingston 3-2. Cornel dropped the glove with defenseman Roland McKeown (LAK) in the final minute of the opening period to pick up his third major of the year and fifth of his career. Lawson Crouse ('15) scored his 20th goal of the season for the Frontenacs.

Nick Baptiste sat out due to illness as Erie was doubled by Guelph 6-3. 2015 draft eligibles Connor McDavid and Dylan Strome each pocketed a goal and an assist in the loss.

In the WHL, Sam Reinhart scored on the power play as Kootenay doubled up Medicine Hat 6-3. Reinhart has points in 26 of 30 games this season en route to collecting a total of 43 (13+30).
