2/13 Recap: Petersen shuts door

Cal Petersen followed up his Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week award with a masterful 38-save performance Friday as Notre Dame blanked No. 11 Providence 2-0. Petersen's excellence boosts him to a record 8-11-2 with a 2.49 GAA, .913 save% and three shutouts through his first 20 starts. He'll enters Saturday's contest with a shutout streak of 112:37. Fellow freshman Connor Hurley logged one shot for the Fighting Irish. For the Friars, defenseman Anthony Florentino ended with three shots and two minor penalties while Mark Adams produced one shot.

Sean Malone scored the game's first goal and assisted on the second less than two minutes later as No. 14 Harvard defeated Colgate 4-1. Malone finished his own rebound off the boards at 8:38 of the opening period for his fourth goal in just seven games this season with the Crimson. He has nine total points.

In B1G action, Hudson Fasching notched one assist and a team-high five shots on goal as Minnesota cruised past No. 12 Michigan 6-2. Christian Isackson registered one shot on goal for the Gophers, while Michigan winger J.T. Compher posted career-low minus-four rating in the loss.

Newly acquired Jason Kasdorf allowed three goals on 13 shots before being pulled early in the second period as RPI lost to Brown 6-3. Brown freshman winger Max Willman was unable to contribute in the victory.

Judd Petersen was kept off the score sheet as St. Cloud State was beaten at No. 6 Minnesota-Duluth 4-2. Eden native Alex Iafallo connected for a pair of helpers for the winning side.

Brad Navin (-2) did not factor as Wisconsin dropped a 2-1 decision at Ohio State. The Badgers fall to 0-9-2 in conference play.

WHL

Brycen Martin picked up an assist to extend his point streak to nine games as Saskatoon doubled Calgary 4-2. Martin now has 18 points (4+14) in 14 games since being traded to the Blades. He previously has posted two goals and 16 points in 39 outings with Swift Current.

Sam Reinhart (-3) went without a point for the third time in his last five games as Kootenay was defeated by Moose Jaw 5-1. The ICE captain, who was whistled for slashing and high-sticking penalties on the same play midway through the third period, has 13 goals and 43 points in 31 contests.

OHL

Justin Bailey recorded one assist as Sault Ste. Marie rolled past Saginaw 7-1. Bailey has 31 goals and 31 helpers this season. The Hounds have won 13 of 15 games since acquiring Bailey from Kitchener. Jean Dupuy added an assist for the Hiunds to give him 33 points through 40 games.

Nicholas Baptiste finished with a plus-one rating as Erie edged Owen Sound 4-3. Baptiste missed the Otters' previous tilt due to illness. Connor McDavid ('15) was named the game's first star with a goal and an assist.

USHL

Christopher Brown recorded three shots on goal as Green Bay lost at Fargo 3-2. Brown has a team-leading 13 goals this season, but has scored just once in his last dozen games.

AHL

Zac Dalpe (2+1) and Tim Schaller (1+2) produced three-point efforts as Rochester earned a 7-4 victory over Adirondack. Johan Larsson and Brayden Irwin each notched a goal and an assist, while William Carrier and Dan Catenacci added singles. Matt Hackett stopped 23 of 27 shots to record his second consecutive win.
