2/18 Recap: Bailey, Ullmark trending upward

Justin Bailey scored a pair of goals and added an assist Wednesday to extend his point streak to five games as Sault Ste. Marie blew past Sudbury 8-3. Bailey's propensity for pushing his quick-release shots through the five-hole has become more and more apparent this year. Bailey, who now has nine multi-point efforts in his last nine games, has collected 34 goals and 67 points in 53 contests with the Greyhounds and Kitchener. Fellow Sabres prospect Jean Dupuy scored his 12th goal of the year for the Hounds to up his season take to 36 points in 43 games.



In the WHL, Brycen Martin (-2) saw his 11-game point streak come to an end as Saskatoon lost to Red Deer 5-4. Martin amassed three goals and 16 points during the streak to up his season line to 6-30-36 through 56 contests.

In Sweden, Linus Ullmark stopped 30 of 31 shots to guide MODO to a 4-1 victory over Leksands IF. Ullmark's excellence ups his record 11-17 on the year with a 3.02 GAA and .910 save%. You'll want to watch the clip below for a nice glove save on a breakaway.



In Allsvenskan action, Jonas Johansson made 28 saves as Almtuna IS was defeated by IF Bjorkloven 4-0. Johansson is 2-3 in five starts since being loaned from Brynas. He has posted a 2.86 GAA and a .890 save%.

Victor Olofsson was unable to connect on a team-high four shots on goal as Timra IK pitched a 2-0 shutout of Sodertalje SK. Olofsson has two goals on 11 shots in four Allsvenskan appearances.

In AHL action, Brayden Irwin scored his 11th goal of the year as Rochester lost at Hamilton 4-1. Matt Hackett stopped 24 shots in the loss. Jake McCabe assisted on the Irwin marker to give him nine points (2+7) in his last 10 games. Phil Varone also earned an assist on the only Amerks goal of the night.
