3/20 Recap: Compher collects

JT Compher (+2, 4 SOG) scored the game-winning goal Friday as Michigan played their way into the Big Ten championship game with a 4-1 win over Michigan State. Compher filled the center lane and sent a sharp shot high glove side from between the circle to make it a 2-1 Michigan lead at 11:36 of the middle frame. Compher's marker was his 12th of the year.



Hudson Fasching notched three shots on goal as Minnesota punched their ticket into the final with a 3-0 shutout of Ohio State. Christian Isackson executed in a fourth-line role for the Gophers, who will square off with Michigan on Saturday (8:00 ET, BTN) to decide the conference championship.

In the ECAC semifinals, Sean Malone scored into an empty net and posted a team-high five shots on goal as Harvard upended Quinnipiac 5-2. The Crimson move on to face Colgate in Saturday's title game for the automatic berth into the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.

Freshman winger Judd Peterson posted one shot on goal as St. Cloud State upset top-ranked North Dakota 3-1 in the NCHC semifinal round. The Huskies will take on Miami on Saturday in the league's final game before Sunday's release of the NCAA brackets.

In Sweden, Victor Olofsson produced three assists as MODO J20 closed their quarterfinal series with a 7-4 win over Timra IK J20. Olofsson had five points (2+3) in the opening round victory. MODO's semifinal opponent has yet to be determined.

In the WHL, Sam Reinhart registered one assist as Kootenay was defeated by Calgary 2-1. The helper gives Reinhart 63 points (18+45) entering the final game of the season. The ICE have locked up the seventh playoff position in the Eastern Conference.

Brycen Martin did not play in Saskatoon's 3-1 loss to Medicine Hat due to an undisclosed injury. Earlier in the day, Martin was named the Blades' Defenseman of the Year. The Blades close the season Saturday in Medicine Hat.

In the OHL, Eric Cornel finished with a minus-two rating as Peterborough was bounced by Ottawa 6-2. Cornel has scored just once in his last 17 games.

Vaclav Karabacek logged a minus-one rating in Baie-Comeau's 3-1 loss to Chicoutimi. The Czech winger has 39 points (16+23) this season, but has gone eight games without a goal.

In the USHL, Christopher Brown posted one shot on goal as Tri-City downed Des Moines 5-4 in overtime. Brown has produced 37 points (13+24) in 51 games this season between the Storm and Green Bay.

In AHL action, Justin Kea scored his first goal in an Amerks uniform as Rochester was doubled by Utica 4-2. Andrey Makarov made 33 saves for the Amerks, while Evan Rankin supplied the other marker in defeat. Brady Austin earned an assist on the Rankin tally.
