4/17 Recap: Sam solid in debut

Sam Reinhart made his AHL debut Friday, notching a pair of assists to earn the game's second star as Rochester was edged by Utica 3-2.

After slipping a puck to Mikhail Grigorenko for a secondary helper on Johan Larsson's power play marker in the opening frame, Reinhart collected his second point of the night at 13:41 of the second period when he made a perfect backhand feed in the neutral zone to send Phil Varone down the left wing to even the score at 2-2.

Matt Hackett stopped 20 of 23 shots to take the loss, while Mark Pysyk was logged minus-one rating in his first action since February 27.

In the QMJHL playoffs, Vaclav Karabacek (-1) posted three shots on goal as Baie-Comeau was drilled 5-2 by Val-d'Or. The Drakkar, who won the first three games of the second round series before dropping two straight, will look to eliminate the surging Foreurs on Monday.

On Thursday, Christopher Brown was a scratch as Tri-City scored with 1:05 left in regulation to earn a 3-2 victory over Omaha in Game 2 of the USHL Western Conference Semifinal. The Storm go for the sweep of the best-of-five series Saturday night on home ice.
