Vaclav Karabacek scored for the second straight game Friday as Baie-Comeau was bested by Rimouski 6-2. Karabacek took an early roughing penalty that led the Oceanics' first goal of the game, but he made up for it with an unassisted strike at 7:58 of the middle frame. The lowly Drakkar, who have won just once in their first seven tries, return to action Sunday at Victoriaville.
Elsewhere, Eric Cornel failed to produce a point for the second consecutive night as Peterborough was blanked at Oshawa 3-0. Cornel, who was named the team's captain earlier in the week, has collected three assists through his first four games. The Petes will look to reverse a two-game skid on Saturday when they host Niagara.
In the WHL, Brycen Martin (+1) supplied two shots on goal in Saskatoon's 3-2 overtime loss to Medicine Hat. Martin has a goal and two assists through three games to go along with a team-best plus-five rating. The Blades next welcome Vancouver to town on Sunday for a matinee start.
Devante Stephens logged a plus-two rating as Kelowna won for the third time in four starts with a 5-3 victory at Edmonton. The Rockets visit Red Deer on Saturday.
