10/30 Recap: Estephan pots pair in defeat

Giorgio Estephan struck for a pair of goals Friday as Lethbridge saw their eight-game winning streak come to a halt with a 7-3 loss at Kamloops. Estephan got the Hurricanes on the board when his power-play point shot was tipped by a Blazers defender to make it a 1-1 game at 8:59 of the opening frame. He'd bury a feed at the side of the net with 3:41 left in the first period to make it a 4-2 game. Estephan ups his season take to 19 points (6+13) to vault into a tie for 14th on the WHL leaderboard.

Brendan Guhle notched one assist and one shot on goal as Prince Albert was bested by Victoria 3-2 in overtime. The Raiders saw their seven-game winning streak snapped but still remain unbeaten in regulation in their last eight games.

Brycen Martin was unable to get a point as Saskatoon blanked Swift Current 4-0. Martin had collected nine points in his first seven games, but has just two in his last seven.

Devante Stephens was kept off the score sheet as Kelowna was edged by Prince George 2-1. The 18-year-old did a great cleaning out rebounds and tying up sticks in front of his goal in the defeat.

In the OHL, Eric Cornel bagged one assist and four shots as Peterborough advanced past Kingston 6-3. Through 15 games, the Petes captain has amassed three goals and 12 points.

In Quebec League action, Vaclav Karabacek recorded three shots on goal in Baie-Comeau's 3-2 loss to Gatineau. The Czech winger has gone four games without a goal.

In the NCAA, Jason Kasdorf made 22 saves to backstop RPI to a 5-1 win over Union. Kasdorf had the shutout going until deep into the third period when the Dutchmen finally scored with 2:46 remaining.

William Borgen recorded an assist for his first collegiate point as St,. Cloud State opened the NCHC schedule with a 3-0 blanking of Miami. Judd Peterson provided three shots on goal for the winning side.

Ivan Chukarov posted one shot on goal from his top-pair spot as Massachusetts earned a 5-4 overtime victory over Maine.

Chris Briown was unable to connect as Boston College got past Denver 4-3. Bruins prospect Danton Heinen scored twice and added an assist for the Pioneers in front of his future Boston bosses in the loss.

Anthony Florentino did not dress as Providence blasted Colgate 7-2. Defenseman Jake Walman (STL) notched a hat trick to pace the Friars attack.

In the AHL, Phil Varone scored his third goal of the year with an assist to Evan Rodrigues as Rochester was smoked by Springfield 6-1. Andrey Makarov stopped 31 of 37 shots in the loss.
