11/28 Recap: Cornel's cruise continues

Eric Cornel remained red-hot on Saturday, scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist as Peterborough rolled past Oshawa 5-1. Cornel was excellent in November, posting 10 goals and 18 points in his last 12 games. The productive month boosts Cornel's season numbers to 13 goals and 30 points through 27 contests. With a hat trick on Friday and another three-point night on Saturday, perhaps Cornel can earn OHL Player of the Week honors come Monday.

QMJHL

Vaclav Karabacek snatched his eighth goal of the year and added one assist as Baie-Comeau came up short 5-3 at Rimouski. Karabacek's two-point night snapped a four-game drought.

WHL

Brendan Guhle finished plus-one with a pair of minor penalties as Prince Albert posted a pair of third-period tallies to edge Swift Current 2-1. Guhle posted one goal and one assist in 10 November games.

Giorgio Estephan picked up a roughing penalty in the final minute of play as Lethbridge closed out Kootenay 3-2. In 26 games, Estephan has captured nine goals and 29 points.

Brycen Martin notched one assist and two shots on goal as Saskatoon was defeated by Edmonton 3-1. Martin has points in four straight games and nine of his last 10.

Devante Stephens contributed one shot on goal as Kelowna earned a 3-1 triumph over Victoria. Stephens has logged an even rating or better in 13 of his last 15 games.

SWEDEN

Jonas Johansson made 28 saves as Almtuna defeated Asploven 5-2. Johansson moves to 11-10 with a 2.46 GAA and .912 save%.

Gustav Possler was unable to get on the score sheet in 19:52 of work as MODO skated to a 4-1 win over Rogle BK. Victor Olofsson was scratched for the second straight game as other healthy bodies were given an opportunity to play.

AHL

Jason Akeson scored a goal and two helpers and Andrey Makarov made 29 saves as Rochester barely held on for a 6-5 victory at Binghamton. The Amerks held a 6-0 lead with 6:38 remaining in the second period before the Senators mounted a valiant comeback attempt. Evan Rodrigues secured a goal to give him 2+2 in his last five games. Phil Varone, Matt Ellis, William and Jerry D'Amigo also scored for Rochester. Nick Baptiste provided two assists while Justin Bailey notched a single helper.

NCAA

Chris Brown snatched a goal and an assist for the second multi-point game of his NCAA career as Boston College blasted RIT 6-2. The freshman forward has collected two goals and seven points through his first 13 contests.

Cal Petersen made 31 saves as Notre Dame downed Western Michigan 3-1 in the third place game of the Shillelagh Tournament. Petersen snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 6-4-4 with a 2.55 GAA and .913 save%. Connor Hurley was held off the scoresheet, leaving him with six points (1+5) through 13 outings.

Max Willman notched one assist as Brown and Lowell played to a 5-5 tie at the Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Lowell won in the shootout to take home the Belpot Trophy. With the helper, Willman has points in two straight games for the first time in his NCAA career.

Anthony Florentino scored his third goal of the year as Providence remained unbeaten with a 4-3 victory over Yale. Florentino's marker gives him three goals and five points through 10 games played.

Ivan Chukarov logged an even rating as Massachusetts battled to a 1-0 loss at Quinnipiac. At the 15-game mark, Chukarov has amassed two assists and a minus-seven rating.

Goaltender Jason Kasdorf did not play for the seventh straight contest as RPI was defeated by Harvard 4-0 in the championship game of the Shillelagh Tournament at Notre Dame. Sean Malone was absent from the Harvard lineup for the second straight game.
