3/5 Recap: Carrier clutch

In Saturday action, William Carrier scored a pair of goals to earn the game's first star and Linus Ullmark turned away 42 shots as Rochester downed Toronto 4-2. Carrier's two-goal night, which included the game-winner, gives him 14 points (8+6) in his last dozen games. Justin Bailey picked up an assist to give him points in 10 of his last 12 AHL contests.

In the collegiate ranks, Jason Kasdorf made 33 saves and added one assist as RPI defeated Brown 4-3 to sweep the ECAC Tournament opening round series. The Engineers move on to face Sean Malone and Harvard in a quarterfinal round series beginning Friday. Brown forward Max Willman notched a pair of assists for the first multiple point game of his collegiate career. Willman's sophomore season comes to close with 11 points (3+8) and 64 shots on goal in 29 games.

Ivan Chukarov logged two shots on goal and a plus-one rating as Massachusetts fought hard but saw their season come to an end with a 5-4 loss to Boston University. Chukarov played in all 36 of the Minutemen's games as a freshman, scoring three goals and eight points while producing 36 shots on goal.

Hudson Fasching recorded four shots on goal as Minnesota was upended by Michigan State 5-0. Fasching, who has a team-best 19 goals to along with 35 total points, will look to bounce back Friday when the Gophers begin their final Big Ten set versus Wisconsin.

Judd Peterson scored his 16th goal of the year as St. Cloud State closed the NCHC schedule with a 9-3 victory at Colorado College. Will Borgen contributed one shot on goal for the Huskies, who open the conference tournament next weekend against Western Michigan.

In the WHL, Brendan Guhle scored his 10th goal of the year as Prince Albert hung on for a 3-2 win over Lethbridge. Guhle scored with the game's first shot on goal when a faceoff was won back to his point spot, and he quickly released a shot at that net that made its way past a couple of sticks before finding the back of the net. Lethbridge centerman Giorgio Estephan notched one assist as part of an excellent all-around effort that saw his earn the game's third star.

Devante Stephens finished with a minus-one rating as Kelowna allowed a goal in the game's final minute to take a second-consecutive 3-2 loss to Kamloops. Stephens has eight points and a plus-six rating with seven regular games left to play.

Brycen Martin remained out of the lineup with an upper body injury as Everett Tri City. Martin is listed as week-to-week and is expected to return in time for the playoffs.

In the QMJHL, Vaclav Karabacek scored for the second straight game as Moncton was defeated by Charlottetown 3-2. Karabacek, who tapped in a centering feed at the crease, has collected 15 goals and 26 points in 42 games.

In OHL action, Eric Cornel posted a pair of assists as Peterborough came back to earn a 5-4 win over Mississauga. Cornel's helpers boost his career-high point total to 75 (26+49) through 62 games.

In Sweden, Gustav Possler scored his ninth goal of the year while receiving over 22:00 of work for just the second time this season as MODO edged Karlskrona HK 2-1. Possler's nine markers equal his previous career high set last season. Victor Olofsson assisted on MODO's first goal to extend his team-leading point total to 28 (13+15).
